Secret to Better Note Taking

by admin on December 15, 2011

To take good notes, you have to be 100% present (this means you can’t be thinking about your upcoming weekend or the conversation you had at your locker.) So, Step One is: “Show Up”. Then, try this note taking technique for better learning retention: re-write or re-type your notes later the same day. The more you go over your notes (especially when they are fresh in your mind), the more familiar you will be with the material. Also, try organizing your notes hierarchically by the different topics and information covered. It also helps to break out main learning points by copying your notes on index cards and using these to study for tests.
